About the pose:

As I was working on the text to explain why I chose this pose, I received an email from someone asking about it. Her question was worded so eloquently and she was so "right on" with her reasoning that I decided to quote her here:

"Perhaps, it's a statement of self empowerment, of owning one's own sensuality again after having it so brutally taken away...that is a lament many of us feel...to feel cut off from our bodies, to not be able to really enjoy what is rightfully ours, because of someone's violation...perhaps that is the gift you wish to give?"

I don't think I could have worded it any better than that. I will just say that this drawing is of a survivor who once again feels comfortable in her own skin and feels beautiful again.
